Balance Health & Wellness Center is Lexington's only solo female owned and operated medical center focusing on disease prevention and the promotion of healthy living. Dr. Lena Edwards is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is completing Board Certification in Anti-Aging Medicine. She is also completing the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine Fellowship Program and will be one of only 680 physicians worldwide with extensive sub-specialization in the area of Anti-Aging Medicine, health maintenance, and disease prevention.
Balance Health & Wellness Center offers numerous services including adult medical care of acute and chronic illnesses, preventative health care, anti-aging medicine, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Edwards has also started a nutrition and weight loss program designed to assist patients in permanent weight loss through nutritional and exercise counseling as well as individualized meal planning and high protein meal supplements. Phyllis Baker, her wellness coach with over ten years of experience in the field of weight loss and nutrition, assists in this program.
The center also offers numerous cosmetic service including sclerotherapy (treatment of spider veins), facial enhancing treatments (including Botox, Restylane, and Juvederm), and Mesotherapy (treatment for body contouring, hair loss, cellulite, and face and neck rejuvenation). In fact, Dr. Edwards was the first physician in Lexington to offer mesotherapy. Several brands of skin care products and Òphysician gradeÓ nutriceuticals are also available.
The focus of Dr. Edwards' practice is health, wellness, and disease prevention. Her goal is to involve her patients in their own health care and emphasizes patient education to empower patients to help in co-directing their health care. In addition to providing extensive individualized patient education, she also offers monthly health seminars on a variety of topics relating to disease prevention and health maintenance.

LEXINGTON CHAPTER OF NAWBO WINS NATIONAL POWER OF NUMBERS CHALLENGE
The Lexington Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) will be recognized on the national level at the 2008 Women's Business Conference in Phoenix AZ for their participation in the 2008 Influence: Rising Membership Campaign.
The Lexington chapter won The Power of Numbers Challenge with an explosive growth of new and renewing membership -- a result their major membership event, Chocolate Affaire, held this past March. The local chapter of NAWBO had the highest percentage increase in membership -- 27.8% - among all 80 chapters across the country.
Local NAWBO President, Diane Hughes; President-elect, Beverly Clemmons; and Membership Chair Betsy Jerner received news of the honor from the NAWBO National Manager of Chapter and Member relations, Julia Cochran. Ms. Cochran writes, "Your chapter's participation in the 2008 Influence: Rising Membership Campaign serves as an excellent example for other NAWBO chapters to follow for, as you know, the larger NAWBO is, the greater impact we can make on the social, political, and economic landscape of the United States."
The Lexington chapter of NAWBO strives to reflect the national mission which is to provide the following for its members.
